UK Gear "PT-03"

UK Gear “PT-03” has become a secret favorite here at Runnergy and gained a pretty loyal following. It’s one of the shoes we found by chance and we’re happy we did. The PT-03 was designed with the help of the British army, which uses it as their official training shoe. Outer-sole: is made up of very durable carbon fiber, which is split in the forefoot to keep the shoe flexible. Mid-sole: is mostly E.V.A. foam. UK Gear has inserted pads of a rubberized material they call “NRG Reactor Pads” in the heel & forefoot for additional cushioning. The heel is noticeably cushier than the forefoot, which is a plus for all you heel strikers. The foam under the arch is firmer and is plated with “S+S PLATES” to control over-pronation. This is with out a question one of the most stable shoes considering its ruggedness and weight. Upper: is much different than anything at first glance. It looks rugged. In fact many runners ask me if it’s a trail shoe. Although it is not a trail shoe I have used it many times on different terrain and it is not bad on our SoCal desert type trails. UG Gear  even offers different upper packages for different environments & climates or should I say base camps. Many have noticed how well the heel fits and that is because each size has its own heel counter to help it fit as best as possible.  Men & women’s are built on their own last/fit. Both fit a bit wide. Conclusion: As you can probably guess I like this shoe a lot. I like the non-recognizable name, rugged upper and the attention to fit. Is it perfect? No. The upper is more rugged than breathable, it could use less stitching and less overlays compared to many newer shoes. Although there may be some datedness to this performer it still performs great.
